Do me a favour

Wedding favours. Done!

Stagathon - part 4

So me and my mate (who is the owner of all the goodies shown in the previous posts) finally got down to a game of Rogue trader. We played fairly loosely with the rules as we were still a bit fuzzy headed but we tried our best.

This is the board at set up.

As I already mentioned, I based the scenario on the old paranoia/40k scenario published in white dwarf ' vulture warriors from dimension x meet plenty of cheerful orks with plasma cannons'. I added a squad to each side and because I wasn't GM'ing as I had intended we did away with the 'double blind' set up.

So the inter dimensional collapsitron deposits the loyal citizens of the computer in a cramped empty room.

The alarms sound, sending the boyz running for their guns n stuff.

Some of the citizens venture down stairs and are confronted with a massive room with no ceiling and green squishy carpet ( they've never been outside before!) but thankfully pass a cool test!

Another squad of trouble shooters try to sneak along a bridge to see what's over there.

But a squad of boys appear at the table edge and shouting unintelligible curses advance towards the troubleshooters.

The trouble shooter team let fly with their lasguns and their experimental weapon ( we played it that each time they wanted to use the gun they had to roll a d6 for strength and d6 for number of shots, any ones and he'd be out of ammo) leaving only two shocked looking boys'

Another mob came on the board at the far end and started to head towards the noise.

Meanwhile the rest of the boys moved towards the centre of the base and the noise if gunfire.

The second trouble shooter squad moved round to support the squad on the bridge after they'd been shot up by the boys. The combat bot came out and added to the torrent of fire.

The other boys moved forward taking pot shots at the trouble shooters.

Some very poor shooting meant that the trouble shooters were having trouble keeping the orks at bay.

But the combat bot charged the boys and kept them in combat for much of the rest of the game.

And the blue troopers moved to the windows and poured fire into the other squad.

The third squad of boys finally got into range and started to fire at the trouble shooters on the ground.

Never-u-myn-2, the leader of the citizens, suddenly remembered that he had psychic powers and used steal mind to leave one of the orks a drooling moron.

With the clock ticking down till the transdimensional collapsitron recharged the citizens decided to sell their cloned souls dearly in order to allow as many of the citizens to escape this yucky dimension as possible. So they charged the orks.

The robot had been wading his way through the ork mob and the blue troopers had devestated the other. Never-u-myn-2 stole another mind leaving on the ork with the missile launcher ( who actually failed several times to hit a wall!)  to try and charge the citizens as they withdrew to use the collapsitron.

But he was too slow. 9 loyal citizens managed to get back to the testing centre leaving two prisoners for the orks and the combat bot going berserk with no one to control it.

And we called an end to it there. We've got a couple if ideas for a follow up game, either an ill-advised attempt to rescue the prisoners or an orky attempt at invading the domain of the computer. Hopefully by then I'll have painted some RT orks. Hope you enjoyed the write up as much as we enjoyed the game.

Stagathon - part 3

Still up in Edinburgh. I think my hangover may be nearly gone and I'm planning to wander back down the road to englandshire at some point today. Breakfast at the local cafe may be first on the cards though.

We got our game of Rogue Trader last night. We had a great time and when I get home I'll do a proper battle report.

I thought I'd show some of the other goodies that I found while raking around in my best man's cupboards.

A very well used copy if space hulk. Many, many hours were spent playing this game in our younger days. All the bits are there, we may have dig this out again in the future.

A copy of the Genestealer expansion that has never been touched. All the figures are still on the sprues!

A land raider and a predator (might see if I can wangle these off him for my sons of Horus!)
A big box of dwarves! Including most of a regiment of bugmans, a regiment of the dragon company, a gyro copter and these ones that I reckon used to be mine (and definately are now!)

Plus the first 3 doctors that I have volunteered to paint for him.

Stagathon - part 2

After last nights 13 hour long drinking marathon I was amazed to find myself conscious never mind actually safely tucked up in my bed! Still all this partying has its cost and the 4 smelly and hungover men have spent the day thanking the inventors of Alka-selzer XS.

But, huzzah! While mopeing about I found my mates stash of oldhammer goodies!
A set of the old warhammer novels, I think I've read them all?

WFRP campaign books all in cracking condition (mainly cos he never let me borrow them!)

40k vehicle manual, I remember using this targeting system in games, it worked pretty well.

And we are now lucid enough to be playing Chaos Marauders! We're on our fourth game or so and it's starting to get faster. It's only the two of us now but I can imagine that it'd be pretty loud and raucous with 4 folk playing!

Hopefully a game of rogue trader after tea. I was going to GM but the other guys have had to go as something as disagreed with them (enough said!)

Stagathon - part 1

Some selected images from yesterday's shenanigans. Can you tell who's in the last photo?

So much to do, so little time........

I thought I'd take a wee bit of time to run through the projects that I've started over the past year. I figure that by showing stuff on here the knowledge that other people can see my painfully slow progress it'll shame me in to getting my arse in gear and getting more stuff painted.

So here is a list of stuff I'm kidding myself I'll get painted!

1. Rogue trader stuff

I've got about 30 pirates and adventurers undercoated and some started but the above 4 are the only ones I've finished up until now. 16 or so eldar are an evening or so away from being finished and I did manage to do a similar amount of marines

But I also have a complete RT ork army just sitting there begging for attention including 5 dreadnoughts and a squad of Ogryns!

2. 3rd edition warhammer chaos army

I've managed to build up a silly sized pile of lead that equates to about 4000 points  including chaos dwarves, thugs, beastmen, marauders, centaurs, hobgoblins, orcs and various war machines and knights/warriors.
So far I've painted the above figure!

3. Sons of Horus Army

No I haven't won the lottery. Most of the figures are plastic and have been recycled from other projects or ebayed for much cheapness. The forgeworld ones I do have are either presents from people who don't pay full price anyway or badly painted cheapness from eBay that I've managed to rescue. Quite a lot of this is actually done just needs finishing off but as I'm going to forced to play 6th edition I'm not sure if I can be arsed. Still I promised my old scumgrod I would but he's even slower than me!

4. Dutch Revolt / 16th century skirmish army / armies

This is one of those projects that I really want to do as I love this period of history. I've multi-based the mini's so that I can have them as units and as single figs. I haven't settled on the rules yet, either the perfect captains 'Spanish fury' or a doctored version of 'Sharp Practice'. Either way I don't actually have any one to play with (I'm doing Dutch as well as Spanish) hence why I've only got as far as finishing the above unit.

5. Inq28 figures

Another project started in a fit of enthusiasm that has inevitably petered out after finishing half a dozen figures. The sad thing is that I've got another half dozen built that I just need to give a bit of love to and they'd be done. These include a rogue tech priest

A cold-trader / pirate captain

A navigator

And a mean looking combat servitor

So there you are, I've outed myself as a serial project abandoner. I must now work to redeem myself and get all of these projects going again and get at least some of them finished! Wish me luck!

Oh. I forgot about the 30 years war armies. And the chaos cultists. And of course there's my bretonnians........
