After some negotiation I was given the go ahead to go and play toy soldiers for two days at a local Warhammer the Old World tournament. Apparently this group had been running similar events for some time and I'd just missed them! Obviously I had a Chaos Army that I could take my pick of, A Beastmen army that already had some experience of tournament play and an Orcs and Goblin army that was nearly ready to make it's debut outside of the house. However, being the silly prick that I am, I figured with about two weeks to go, I could finish a 2500 point, Renegade Crowns army easily.
I already had a unit of Veteran Sellswords completed (See Here) and pretty Much completed a unit of Ogre's as well so I reckoned I could probably manage as all the basic prep work was done on most of the figures and it was only the Cavalry that I'd really have to sort out.
First up was a second unit of Veteran Sellswords, this time armed with Halberds and a slightly smaller size of 24 figures. As you can see from the banner above, the unit was to have a black and yellow checked, however making sure their uniforms were that colour scheme didn't happen, most do have yellow and black somewhere in their schemes but Red and purple and green sneaked in a fair bit as well.
The banner reads as a kind of bastardised German/Dutch "As Sharp Blade solves most Problems" which I thought was very mercenaryesque. (For added context the banner on the Golden coin banner says "No Gold, No Swords").
Again they are all classics figures from the old F2 fighters and MM60 Marauder fighters range although there are others in there like musician and a couple of later Empire halberdiers.

In addition to the infantry, I also painted up two units of cavalry, one with six figures and the other with 9 plus the Prince (I need to show him off at some point as I don't have an good pics of him yet. All the models were Voland's Venators figures from the Dogs Of War range apart from the officer in the smaller unit who is the Freelance from teh Mordheim range.
I also go the Captain for the Ogres finished as well, proudly leading his boys into smashing some face. You can also see in the pic that I had to borrow some artillery for the game as I'd run out time to build and paint some new stuff. The one you can see is from my old late medieval army plus some spanish artillery crew and the empire engineer figure. The other Bombard ended up being borrowed from the dwarf army. A future project will be to make specific sets for this army.
I also got some pistolliers finished at the last minute so here is a rushed picture of the final army.
For those that are interested, the army list is as follows.
Cheers.
