The Orcs get some time in the sun

As promised, some decent pictures of the growing Orc army. First up are the Black Orcs. I fine old mix of classic sculpts from Bob Olley, Trish and Alley Morrison, Kev Adams and Nick Lund. I love this bunch, they look properly menacing but motley as fuck. I really want to do another unit to match it, more deep diving into old school sculpts!

Nope - A Rogue Stars review

So. Rogue Stars. On paper this seems like a game right up my street. Sci-fi skirmish game. Small number of figures. Gorgeous illustrations. Copplestone figures. Decent price. Comic book styling. Sounds great. I can't even remember when it was first mentioned but I've known of the impending arrival of these rules for at least a year. The author, Andrea Sfiligoi, has done 'Fistful of Kung-fu' and 'Of gods and Mortals' for Osprey as well as running Ganesha Games and writing 'Song of Blade and heroes', so he has pedigree. Northstar have ran a Nickstarter campaign for this game and got a whole load of figures produced for it, some of them are classics. It's nice to see a new range of Sci-fi figures being produced with no fixed back ground.

When is oldhammer not oldhammer and does it matter? or How i stopped worrying and learned to love my miniatures

It's only recently occurred to me that I might not be an archetypal Oldhammerer (if such a person exists). Someone asked about 'Oldhammerable' ranges on another forum and I gave him the standard answer, naming various minature ranges etc. but then another commenter suggested that that wasn't the point and that it should be about playing with what you have. That you should be bending the games to fit the miniatures you own rather than the other way round. That the games were originally designed to allow people to play mass games using their collection of figures (a collection that they may have just built up playing RPG's or buying figures that they liked ). As I read his reply I felt myself agreeing. Of course that's what it's about! This thought started to bump up against a couple of others until it got to the point where I felt I needed to write some stuff down.
