When another club member dropped out, I offered to put a game on at the club on fairly short notice.
I decided to get the Maximillian adventure stuff out again and spread the central american love.
The scenario was based on one that Richard Crawley put together for the 2022 Lard Magazine. The way it works is that you end up with essentially too different battles.
A force is battleing on the open country outside the town, attempting to delay a French force from catching up with the main Republican army.
Whilst another force is attemting to deliver an inspirational flag to the tower of the church in order to instill the fighters with republican fervour ( I believe there may be a touch of Sharpe in the tail!)
The battle in the open plain ended up being a fairly long range musket duel with the Foreign legionaires taking a pummeling after the Mexicans gor their shit together.
In the town the Zouaves and some FFL skirmishers headed for the cantina and blocked the Peons from getting to the church.
The Chassuers de'Afrique rode to teh edge of town and flattened several units of peons.
There was a lot of sneaking about but eventually some of the Mexicans managed to get to the tower, followed closely by a bunch of French. A nasty fight ensued in the tower itself with the French winning and the poor mexicans having to scurry off with their tails between their legs.
Cracking looking game, this was my first ever army in 15mm, so tempted to give it another go.
