Frank the Tank

I've had a little bit of time this week to finish off the Pirate crew heavy, Frank the Tank. He's from Lead Adventure miniatures and he was great fun to paint. I see him as a criminal who had been sentenced to be turned into a servitor and was half way through his transformation when his crew mates sprung him from the grips of the Mechanicus.

There are lots of little details like the stitching coming undone and the wire work coming out of his ear.

And here he is with the rest of the crew, patiently waiting on their bases being finished. You can see the final model for the unit lurking in the back row. She's next!

  1. Frank looks right at home with his ship mates. A characterful little crew indeed.

  2. Wow, tons of personality! Besides, he looks totally natural among the rest of the crew! Well done!

  3. Great job and great coherence, I still believe Frank and Loritta are meant to meet n fight and fall in love...

  4. I imagine that Frank has a series of vocal and ohysical ticks as a result of his brush with the Omnissiah, like Max Headroom.

Thats a cool model, with a cool back story, a cool paint job and a cool bunch of buddies. You cant ask for any more than that, well done :)

  5. Yeah Agree with all of the above...he fits perfectly! You have a good eye for picking models to form a cohesive crew...including this guy from way outside the normal RT figures choices.

    ...Painting looks top notch too!

...what will you do for basing?

  6. He looks like Kano from 2000AD's Bad Company strip.

  7. Great job! The crew look like a coherent group, without loosing individuality.

You and Rab are really making me long for some skirmishing RT action! (Note to self: go into loft a find all Sci-Fi models owned!!!)

  8. Cheers guys. I never thought about Kano but now that you mention it that's spot on. I like the idea of him being a bit Max Headroom, maybe some glitchy chuckle as he opens up with the heavy stubber. I'm going to base all the figures for the game in one go so that I keep it consistent. I've got another 5 to paint (although I'm tempted to get a Klegg hound as a crew pet!) for me a Cheetors game then I want to see if we get some kind of hint about what kind of table we're playing on. If Frank survives long enough to meet Loritta the sight of may be enough to bring back some painful memories, then who knows what'll happen! Go on get some RT stuff painted!

  9. I've got most of those pirates knocking around in the old lead pile. Love what you've done with yours. I've also nominated you for a liebster award. Details on my blog.
