Dredd mob!!

Stomp, stomp, stomp...dakka, dakka, dakka!!!!!!!

Sorry it's been a bit quiet around here lately, going back to work generally has that effect in september. However, I have managed to paint a mob of Rogue trader era Ork dreadnoughts.

I've always loved the bonkers stomp machines and managed to grab a handful (literally! Imagine having dreds for fingers!) The freebooters list lets you hire a dredd mob as a freebooter mob so who to say no to some big red shooty stompy silliness!

All five of mine have the extension middle section and the extra arms, so they have to heavy weapons and two arms each. 4 have the shorter legs and we have one we will call Lanky. I've only put one banner on so far but I've painted the other four (variations on the finished one) I just need to decide if I want them all to have banners or not. The guns are mostly the RT lascannons and a plasma cannon with later heavy bolters and heavy stubbers.

I might put a game on with some plucky marines trying destroy a mob of dredds. Hmmm........

  1. Orks have never been my thing, but I really do like those funky eggs on legs. Yours look great in red. Nice job!

  3. Awesome! Yes, please put on banners, classic models need them even more than the contemporary ones.

If you are going to make any more modifications, suggest adding a few glyph plates here and there to further differentiate them.

  4. Fantastic colours, always wanted one of the dredds with the pilot sticking out =) I love the desert terrain you have too. Is is on a flexible mat?

  6. They turned out great Whiskey! I really like the oldschool colour scheme you've chosen. They really knew how to get the best out of them (colour choice wise) back in the day.

Just out of curiosity, how did you go about attaching them together? Just glue or pinning or some other technique?

I ask, because the only downside to the old Dreadnoughts (all RT Dreads for that matter) is their fragility. Their weight, combined with the questionable surface area provided to glue them together with makes them very prone to breakage.

So I'm just wondering if you've done something different to overcome this problem?

    Cheers :)

    1. Nope, I'm flying by the seat of my pants and just trusting the glue. A decision I will no doubt regret very soon!
