Happy e-bay day!

This is my 100th post. 95 of which have been since October. I have had over 20,000 views and I've got 72 followers. So I thought it was about time I did an unboxing. That unimaginative staple of certain gaming blogs. What makes this a little different is that I'm unboxing an ebay win that I had to go and collect from some housewife (she is a Hermes delivery agent and wasn't too enthused about having to try and redeliver to my house at a sensible time). So the box above is what I finally got back to my house (one of five packages today, more of which in a bit)

Upon opening the box I find the game that the lot was listed under. Battle for Armageddon, never played it, looks a bit like risk, most of the counters and rules appear to be there.

But also inside the game box are.....

5 Rogue Trader marines, two of which are Heavy weapon troopers, one seems to have his weapon removed and one has a shruiken catapult. So far so cool. But there is also.....

Some metal marines, no arms but I think these are from the later RT or 2nd ed releases, I 'll do a bit of research. But that's not all..

A chaos renegade marine, a female marine from the adventurers range and a marine scout with shruiken catapult! Brilliant! But there's even more.....

Two (yes two!) Genestealer Magi (maguses?) How awesome is that? I 've got 4 hybrids and a patriarch already so these are very welcome! But there is yet more....

A full copy of the Book of the Astronomican! Fuck yeah! I've wanted this book for ages. It's such a great set, nevermind the army lists, it's got great illustrations, a four part campaign, weird characters, painting guides and catalogue pages full of classic RT models. All of the above cost me less than 40 clams! I am one happy little bunny!

Another reason for me to be wearing a shit-eating grin is that also contained in my post today are the results of more trading and ebaying! The eldar trader, the hive worlder and the imperial official from the adventurers set, as well as Dib from the Judge Dredd set. I also got Irn Bonce the Squat who went straight into the dip for a stripping as well as another half dozen Paranoia Troopers. Big happy smiles!

And to top it all off we had the 20 week scan for our latest miniature and everything is looking great......and it's a boy!

  6. You know the best thing about having a boy when your a wargamer is? You can justify exorbitant miniature spending to yourself.....I'm buying all this stuff for him when he gets older!

Oh, and good job nabbing the Astronomican. I've got it in PDF, but there's nothing quite like owning the real thing.

  7. What a superb haul, the Book of the Astronomican is a classic but I found the prenatal scan far more enjoyable, good luck to you and the missus there is nothing better than baby news to cheer me up on a moody morning at work, well done :D

  8. Thanks for the good wishes everybody. This will in fact be the 4th Whiskey miniature and will give me a pair of each type. Our last boy was in fact miss-identified as a girl during the scan and it was only 10 minutes after he was born that we realised he wasn't! This wee man was in fact only too happy to flash his bits so their is going to be no mistake this time.

As for the Book of the Astronomican, I feel really chuffed to have finally gotten a copy and to get it as part of such a great haul puts the cherry on the cake!

  9. Thats a great haul, loads of good stuff there. £40 is a steal, well worth enduring a round trip to a grumpy housewife for.

  10. Colour me jealous here Colin, that's a great lot of adventurers ! Knowing they'll get proper care in your hands kinda eases the jealousy.
My congrats for lil' Whiskey. I hope he quits th eflashing habit for painting and modelling which though they're not more sane activities are regarded with (a bit ) less opprob....
